Introduction
For quite some time, I wanted to visit Norway, but each time I managed to find excuses not to (like: expensive, why, what if car breaks down etc. ).
But, sooner or later there's this 'now or never' moment, and you make the decision.
Places I wanted to see in Norway:
- Road of trolls (Trollstigen)
- Geiranger Fjord
- Atlantic Road
- Lofoten Islands
Optionally:
- Stavanger
- Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock)
- Nordkapp
I had no intentions of visiting Oslo (If I really want, I can go there by plane later).
Advantage (and also a disadvantage) of a road trip is that you don't need to have detailed itinerary, you can adjust it as you go. Initially I planned to reach Nordkapp via Finland, then go south along the west coast, and return via Sweden (Stockholm - Tallinn ferry). Didn't consider Poland-Germany-Denmark-Norway route seriously. Then, after several planning iterations with google maps, I excluded Nordkapp from the route, thus simplifying it and reducing the total distance. Tromso was chosen as first point in Norway, just by looking at it's location on a map, and some photos.
So for first 2 days route was as follows:
1) Tartu - Tallinn - Helsinki - Kemi
2) Kemi - Tromso
Hotels in Kemi and Tromso were the only ones I've booked before start, all others were booked on the route.
